During the past six years, millions of passengers have been on at least 65,000 U.S. airline flights that shouldn't have taken off because planes weren't properly maintained, a six-month USA TODAY investigation has found.

I read this article, it's a little unnerving since we travel by air almost everywhere we go. Is the poor maintanence due to struggling airlines? We hold pilots and air traffic controllers to the highest of standards, why not the mechanics and maintanence workers too?
